Punta Campanella

campanella The extreme point of the Sorrento Peninsula, its high coast stretches in the sea between the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno.

The view it has of Capri is splendid with its Faraglioni rocks and the Bay of Ieranto.

The temple of Athena stood there, dedicated to the Goddess Minerva, from which the surrounding terrotory derives its antique name “Promontorium Minervae”. Still well preserved is the “Torre Minerva”, built in 1334.
